Sorry about this, but if your parents or grandparents have varicose veins, there’s a good chance you will develop them too. “The primary factor contributing to the development of varicose veins is heredity or the genetic predisposition to weak vein walls and vein valves resulting in leg vein problems,” shares Luis Navarro, MD, FACS, and founder and director of The Vein Treatment Center in New York City.
